I am a Rhode Island native, but only live here for half of the year. Otherwise I reside in Northern California. There, we don't have South County food like steamers, clamcakes, littlenecks, stuffies, or clear clam chowder. When in Rhode Island, I make a beeline for The Willows. My grandparents first dined here in the 1930's, and my parents did too. This is just the go to South County place for authentic local food. The staff is warm and friendly. Don't be offput by the outside of the building. The Willows is the "real" South County Rhode Island.

Point Judith Lobster

If you ever find yourself in Narragansett definitely check out Twin Willows. We started with calamari and it was delish. It was perfectly battered and cooked. For our main dishes, my friend and I both got the Point Judith Lobster. It included a stuffie, 1/2 lb of steamers, asparagus and of course a lobster. Served with broth and drawn butter. It was "Market" price, which I found it to be very reasonable given the size of the lobster. There was not a grain of sand in any of the steamers. The stuffie is made with chorizo which isn't my favorite but it was still great. It did have a slight kick to it. There was live music as it was a Friday night. It's a smaller-ish place but cozy feel and does have a bar, high tops as well as regular tables. There is a really great outdoor space as well, with water views, however it was not open due to the temperatures. Service was great, our waiter was attentive and returned at the perfect times to check on us. A young man delivered food to table and was very polite asking if we needed anything. 10/10 for food service and atmosphere. (I will also add, we were seated somewhat close to the door to the kitchen and saw several other meals come out and it all looked amazing!!)

Really good! Plump and steaming hot. No empty shells, no sand. The drawn butter is perfect! One of my favorite places to get steamers! I always sit at the bar and the bartenders are friendly and know how to make a good dirty martini. I would love if you had freshly stuffed blue cheese olives for the dirty martini.

Clam Chowder

Perfect temp, and loaded with clams! Easily the best chowder I've had in a while.
